Mechanism (CRM). SEND workers should always ensure that all project activities are Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) sensitive in the office and out in the field, focusing on supporting Gender Equality and Social Accountability through a strengthened civil society in 14 wards in Western Area Rural, Kambia and Bombali districts.

 

Main objective. 

 SEND Sierra Leone is implementing a year pilot project that aims to promote gender equality and empower girls in the science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) with a focus on practical Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) skills in Kenema by expanding access to technical skills, resources, and learning opportunities for girls in the district. Therefore, SEND Sierra Leone seeks competent individuals who will play a crucial role in helping students develop a strong foundation in basic computer programming, design, and robotics. As an ICT Tutor, you must create engaging learning experiences, impart essential knowledge, and foster a love for technology. The ideal candidates are not only proficient in these subjects but also possess the ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and approachable manner.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Job roles and responsibilities 

  • Conduct one-on-one or group tutoring sessions between the ages of 13 to 18
  • Develop and implement customized learning plans to meet the unique needs and goals of each student.
  • Teach fundamental computer programming languages, including but not limited to HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, Backend development, Mobile application development with Flutter and COMM Care
  • Instruct students in graphic design principles using software such as Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools, including Adobe Illustrator, Character Animation with Adobe InDesign, Adobe After Effects and Blender and UI/UX Design with Figma
  • Introduce the learners to data analysis with Microsoft Excel, POWER BI and Tableau.
  • Guide robotics concepts, including basic electronics, coding for robots, and problem-solving in robotics projects.
  • Create and curate educational materials, exercises, and projects to enhance the learning experience.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies in computer programming, design, and robotics.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance to help them achieve their objectives.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment encouraging students to explore and experiment with technology.
  • Collaborate with other educators and staff to ensure a cohesive and well-rounded educational experience.
Person Specification – Essential Requirements
Qualification 
  • While we consider candidates with diplomas or degrees, in computer science or Business Information Technology, computer engineering, or a related field. A degree in education or a teaching certification is a plus.
Experience We also want a candidate with experience in the following: 

  • Strong expertise in computer programming, graphic design, and robotics.
  • Proficiency in popular programming languages, software tools, and robotics platforms.
  • Previous teaching or tutoring experience is an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and explain complex topics in a simple and understandable way.
