1.) Human Resource /Admin Manager

JOB TITLE: Human Resource /Admin Manager
LOCATION: Freetown, with Occasional Travelling
REPORTS TO: The Executive Director

Feed the Hungry Sierra Leone is a non-profit anti-hunger organization that operates across five Thematic Areas/Pillars: Agricultural Pillar, Nutrition & Feeding, Livelihood & Skills Training, Disaster Preparedness and Response, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Pillar.  Our primary objective is to provide meal for needy people and to equip them with life skills that will allow them to take charge of the lives and become productive members of society.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resource Manager will oversee all aspects of human resource management within Feed the Hungry -SL. This includes recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training and development, compliance, and organizational culture. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for advancing our mission through effective human resource practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruitment and Staffing:
    Manage the recruitment process, including developing job descriptions, posting positions, screening applications, and conducting interviews.
    Collaborate with department heads to understand staffing needs and assist in workforce planning.
  • Onboarding and Orientation:
    Design and implement an effective onboarding program for new hires to ensure a smooth transition into the organization.
    Conduct orientation sessions to familiarize new employees with company culture, policies, and procedures.
  • Employee Relations:
    Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries and concerns.
    Foster a positive organizational culture by promoting open communication and addressing employee grievances.
  • Performance Management:
    Develop and implement performance management systems that align with organizational goals.
    Guide managers in conducting performance evaluations and provide training on performance-related issues.
  • Training and Development:
    Identify training needs and facilitate employee development programs to enhance skills and competencies.
    Ensure compliance with necessary training requirements, including ongoing professional development.
  • Compliance and Policies:
    Ensure organizational compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
    Develop, implement, and regularly review HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and alignment with organizational values.
  • Compensation and Benefits:
    Manage employee compensation structures, benefits enrollment, and performance-related incentive programs.
    Conduct periodic reviews of salary structures and recommend adjustments as necessary.
  • Data Management and Reporting:
    Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases.
    Prepare HR metrics and reports for leadership to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Organizational Culture and Leadership Development:
    Support initiatives that promote a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
    Assist in developing leadership programs to cultivate management skills and capabilities within the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in human resources, with a preference for nonprofit sector experience.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, labor relations, and HR best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive situations and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office applications.

The Communications Officer plays a crucial role in promoting Feed the Hungry – SL’s mission, vision, and programs to key stakeholders through effective communication strategies. The ideal candidate is a creative and detail-oriented individual with a passion for social change and the ability to convey compelling narratives about our work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Content Creation:
    Develop engaging content for various platforms, including newsletters, social media, press releases, blogs, and the organization’s website.
    Collaborate with program staff to gather and produce success stories, case studies, and testimonials.
  • Social Media Management:
    Manage and grow the organization’s social media presence across platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn).
    Create and schedule regular posts, monitor engagement, and analyze performance metrics to enhance strategies.
  • Media Relations:
    Build and maintain relationships with media outlets to secure coverage for the organization’s initiatives and events.
    Draft and distribute press materials, including press releases and media advisories.
  • Event Promotion:
    Support the planning and execution of fundraising and awareness events, including creating promotional materials and managing event communications.
    Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure effective event messaging.
  • Brand Management:
    Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communication channels.
    Maintain and update the organization’s communications guidelines.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    Develop communication strategies to engage and inform key stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, and community members.
    Assist with donor communications and updates to ensure transparency and foster relationships.
  • Monitoring and Reporting:
    Track and analyze communications metrics to assess the effectiveness of outreach efforts and adjust strategies as needed.
    Prepare reports on communication activities for internal and external stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in communications, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to craft compelling narratives.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and experience in content creation for diverse audiences.
  • Experience with media relations and knowledge of best practices for engaging with journalists.
  • Proficiency in graphic design and multimedia production is a plus (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

3.) Finance /Resource Mobilization Officer

JOB TITLE: Finance /Resource Mobilization Officer
LOCATION: Freetown, with Occasional Travels to Project Areas
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, upon satisfactory completion of a ninety days Probation
REPORTS TO: HR/Admin Manager & Executive Director

BACKGROUND:

Feed the Hungry Sierra Leone is a non-profit anti-hunger organization that operates across five Thematic Areas/Pillars: Agricultural Pillar, Nutrition & Feeding, Livelihood & Skills Training, Disaster Preparedness and Response, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Pillar.  Our primary objective is to provide meal for needy people and to equip them with life skills that will allow them to take charge of the lives and become productive members of society.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Finance Officer is responsible for developing the financial framework of the organization, overseeing the financial management and reporting functions of the organization. He/She will work closely with the finance team, program managers, and executive leadership to ensure accurate financial records, compliance with regulations, and efficient use of resources.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Financial Planning and Budgeting
    Develop and implement annual budgets in collaboration with program managers.
    Monitor budget utilization and provide regular reports to management on financial performance compared to budgeted targets.
    Conduct financial forecasting to support long-term planning initiatives.
  2. Financial Reporting
    Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and variance analysis reports.
    Present financial reports to the senior management team or board members as required.
    Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards
  3. Accounts Payable/Receivable Management
    Oversee the timely processing of accounts payable invoices from receipt to payment.
    Manage accounts receivable functions including issuing invoices, updating receivables records, tracking payments received, and following up on overdue payments.
  4. Cash Flow Management
    Maintain cash flow projections for effective liquidity management.
    Monitor bank balances regularly to ensure sufficient funds are available for operational needs.
    Prepare cash flow reports for senior management or board members as needed.
  5. Grants/Donor Financial Management
    Coordinate with program managers in preparing grant budgets that align with donor requirements.
    Track expenditures against approved grant budgets ensuring compliance with donor
  6. Resource Mobilization

Identify, cultivate, and solicit funding from major donors, corporate partners, government agencies, foundations, and international organizations.

Collaborate with program managers to develop funding proposals that align with donor priorities.

REQUIREMENT AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
A bachelor’s degree in Financial Accounting or any related and relevant qualification
A practicing experience of at least 7 years is required
Experiencing writing and articulating standard financial report
An understanding of managing financial and financial operations within the NGO sector
Proficient with the relevant industry technologies
