MENTAL HEALTH & PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT and GENDER BASE VIOLENCE OFFICER (MHPSS/GBV Officer),
Location: Sierra Leone.
MISSION
This position focuses on the implementation and support of Médicos del Mundo (MdM Spain) MHPSS interventions integrated in the medical care provided in Sierra Leona, as well as ensuring its quality and alignment with MDM MHPSS strategy.
GEOGRAPHIC AREA OF INTERVENTION
The position will be based in Kabala, Koinadugu District, with trips to Freetown and/or other districts when necessary
CHART
The position reports directly to the Field Project Manager, with a technical link with the MHPSS expert and /or MHPSS advisor HQ
FUNCTIONS
1. IMPLEMENTATION OF QUALITY MHPSS INTERVENTIONS
– Manage, coordinate and evaluate the implementation of MHPSS strategy for SRH, SGBV and Nutrition programs implemented in the country
– Support the integration and implementation of psychosocial services within health, especially Sexual and Reproductive Health and nutrition services.
– Identify challenges in the implementation of MHPSS activities and support in the execution of adjustments to ensure the good quality of the activities.
– Contribute to the preparation, adaptation and update of MHPSS protocols, procedures and tools – Contribute to the integration of cross-cutting approaches, including the protection of human rights, gender, environment and anthropological focus are integrated in MHPSS interventions and strategy
2. CAPACITY BUILDING
– Participate and provide technical supervision, capacity building and support for teams providing psychosocial support.
– Participate in the implementation of the capacity building plan, delivery of training sessions and contribute to developing training materials
– Provide on the job training sessions and follow-up to health/nutrition staff on MHPSS care, where possible
3. MONITORING AND EVALUATION
– Support the monitoring of the activities following up the achievement of the objectives based on the indicators established.
– Contribute to the writing of regular reports, analysing the implementation of the MHPSS activities as required by the mission and donors
4. COORDINATION AND COLLABORATION WITH OTHER ACTORS
– Contribute to the identification of MHPSS actors and the mapping of services available – Participate in working meetings and coordinating with other local actors and partner structures. – Ensure proper communication channels with community mobilizers, MDM team and other key stakeholders
BACKGROUND AND SKILLS:
Academic: Graduated in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or related fields. Complementary: Training in gender and gender-based violence and or nutrition. Languages: C1 English level is mandatory.
Computer requirements: Management of MS-Office is required.
EXPERIENCE
Working experience in MHPSS in Development/humanitarian contexts and INGOs for minimum 2 years.

Organizational capacity and ability to adapt to complex contexts and stressful situations (Flexibility to understand and accept changes in the environment regarding people, tasks, work decisions, policies, etc.)
Capacity to work and coordinate with others and within a team.
Good communication skills and basic psychosocial competences (active listening, empathy, etc.)
Autonomy and organization skills to prioritize daily tasks
Identification with the lines of work, values and mission of Médicos del Mundo.
AVAILABILITY
Immediately. This is a contract until 31st December 2025, with the possibility of extension
