1.) Agent Operations Territory Lead

Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. How you'll help us achieve it
Wave is now the largest financial institution in Senegal, with over 7 million users. And, weβre still in the early days of our product roadmap and potential impact on peopleβs everyday lives.
We are looking for Agent Operations Territory Leads to manage product rollouts and supervise agents in Bamoi, Bo/Kenema, and Makeni as we launch our business in Sierra Leone. You will also represent Wave, oversee our distribution and marketing, interact with users, and interview people about their needs and problems regarding money transfer and financial services.
In this role, you'll:
- Manage agent recruitment by leading a team of agent openers who will recruit and train agents within your territory
- Ensure agent quality and make sure they are compliant with legal and policy requirements
- Guarantee the agent network is fully trained on applications, the contents of the contract before signing, rebalancing options, fraud management, etc
- Collaborate with the BTL team to have a well-branded and equipped agent network
- Collaborate with the agent liquidity team in monitoring the cash and float availability at agent locations
- Manage risk through routine visits to report emerging issues and assess agents' performance in your territory
- Identify underperforming agents, close them, recover Wave items and equipment, and ensure that branding material is removed
- Be the primary contact for all agency networks acquiring and Wave products in your territory
- Champion excellent customer service among distributors and agents within your territory
Requirements
- Fluent in English and Krio with ideally a good command of one additional local language
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience, specifically managing an agent network in Sierra Leone, including aΒ minimum of 1 year of experience managing field-based teams
Key details
- Location: This is a field role. You will be based in either Bamoi, Bo/Kenema, or Makeni and may travel to other field locations across the country based on business needs
- Contract type: 4 months fixed-term contract
- Work authorization in Sierra Leone is required

How you'll help us achieve it
We are looking for someone to manage business development activities at Wave who is resourceful, organized and proactive about getting things done. While our field operations teams are focused on our user growth, our Business Development Lead will ensure other aspects of the business are addressed to ensure we can scale rapidly.
In this role, you'll;
- Be the bridge between external companies/partners and the internal Wave teams.
- Cultivate relationships, establish partnerships and execute contracts based on the needs of the product and operation teams as we rapidly scale our business in Sierra Leone.
- Partnerships and Relationships:Β Build and strengthen partnerships between Wave and key entities like the Central Bank, banks, microfinance institutions, telecom companies, and businesses that Wave needs to succeed. This will involve extensive research and leveraging your networks to determine the best partner for Wave, then owning the acquisition. You also will manage the relationships with all external stakeholders and ensure that Waveβs service level agreements are met.
- Operations Management:Β Manage business operations in key areas of the business such as business development, compliance and reporting.
- Compliance:Β Ensure that WaveΒ Sierra Leone complies with all the relevant regulations and specifications externally and internally. Externally, this will mean making sure that we comply with the government ofΒ Sierra Leoneβs business regulations. You will facilitate the acquisition of different licences as needed and point out any other compliance bottlenecks we must fix. Internally, this will require you to a) know what Wave requires from all its countries of operation and b) constantly hold different departments and business unit heads accountable to make sure they are complying with the Wave standards.
- Strategic Reporting:Β Produce key business performance reports periodically for Wave partners. This can be weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, annually or as needed.
- Facilitate communication between external partners and internal Wave teams (Product, Finance, Distribution, Compliance, Legal) and work collaboratively internally to ensure that leads have the information needed to make decisions.
- Do whatever it takes to get Wave up and running inΒ Sierra Leone! This will involve helping with a wide array of tasks across multiple disciplines.
- Propagate Wave culture and ensure that Wave is a fun and rewarding place to work.

- Have 6+ years of relevant experience building and managing partnerships.
- Have a work authorization in Sierra Leone.
- Strong local network across the public and private sector
- The equivalent of a Master's Degree in Business Management or a comparable field.
- 4+ years leading a team at a rapidly scaling organizationorganisation
- Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
