Background
World Vision is a global Christian relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. World Vision serves all people, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender.
World Vision International Sierra Leone (WVISL) has been operational since 1996 assisting communities with various interventions in health, education, child protection, water & sanitation and livelihoods.
Applications are requested for suitably qualified Sierra Leoneans to fill the various Internship positions:
Purpose:
The purpose of our internship is to allow interns an opportunity to have hands-on experience to learn the aspects of a particular job that aligns with their subject of study at university, and not employment in WVISL - World Vision International Sierra Leone.
Key Objectives
- To provide recent graduates and students who are nearing the end of their tertiary studies with an opportunity to get to know the workplace and gain experience.
- To assist students in obtaining the necessary hands-on experience so they can finish their program of study.
- To support in the capacity building of students, enabling young people to acquire experience and marketable skills. Create an opportunity for professional development for students and recent graduates of Sierra Leone, and
- To empower young people to gain experience and prepare themselves for future employment. Create a bridge between the academic community and real-world field experience. Discover potential future employees.
The Internship Programme is an enhanced learning opportunity for students and recent graduates, and should not be confused with other forms of short-term employment contracts with WVISL.
Student Intern: The minimum requirement for a student intern is that the applicant must be pursuing a diploma or degree in the relevant field with an internship. Internship periods should be for no longer than 3 months, and it can be extended by three months once. Recent graduates that have received diplomas and/or bachelorβs degrees will also be considered.
Graduate Intern: The minimum requirement is a student who is studying for their graduate degree and/or has recently received a graduate diploma from a university (within 24 months). A graduate internship can last for a period between 6-12 months.

Resource Development and Management (RDM)/Project Compliance Intern
The intern will be based in the RDM Resource Development and Management Department, and will work closely with other RDM team members, technical experts, and project and program managers in the national office. As Project Compliance intern, you will provide support in grant and private non-sponsorship funds management and donor compliance in World Vision Sierra Leone.
During the internship, the intern will have the opportunity to develop skills and gain experience in the following key areas:
- Donor compliance in Grant and PNS β Private Non-Sponsorship management
- Organizing and maintaining project documents from acquisition to management
- Practices on documentation, tracking and organizing meetings and working with relevant stakeholders
- Develop skills to aid positioning for a higher position
Requirement: One (1) Graduate Intern from a relevant field of study, development studies/social work.
Duration: 6 months (March 2025 β August 2025)
Resource Development and Management: Resource Acquisition intern
During the internship, the intern will have the opportunity to develop skills and gain experience in the following key areas:
As Resource Acquisition intern, you will learn on developing and implementing strategy for resource diversification and enhance organizational capacity for acquiring & managing grants and private non-sponsorship funds according to donor and WV accountability standards. This will be achieved by supporting the Acquisition Manager of WV Sierra Leone in proposal development, documentation tracking and organizing meetings in the areas of resource acquisitions and donor regulations.
The intern will be, supporting different layers of the business development process, support the acquisition team in tracking opportunities, planning meetings with potential partners and providing minutes for these meetings.
Requirement: One (1) Graduate Intern from relevant field of study, development studies/social work.
Duration: March 2025 β August 2025
Governance & Executive Associates Intern
The Internsβ area of learning and work is on administrative support to the National Directors Unit β (Directorate)
During the internship, the intern will have the opportunity to develop skills and gain experience in the following key areas:
- Events, meetings, coordination with internal staff and external partners on the Directorate unitβs specific functional areas.
- office assistant area, such as calendar management, documentation, filing, record keeping, logistic arrangements, meeting minutes, communications with stakeholders, planning, organising, tracking, monitoring of internal and external events.
- Facilitate meetings with Advisory Counsel Members.
Requirement:
- One (1) Graduate Intern from a relevant field of study such as administration and management. Certificate/ Diploma in Administration or Office Management.
- Past experience of executive assistant work will be an added advantage
Duration: February 2025 β August 2025
Communications Intern
Intern will support the communications team in developing and implementing communication initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience in content creation, media engagement, social media management, and internal and external communications. The intern will assist in amplifying the organizationβs mission, showcasing impact, and engaging key stakeholders through storytelling and digital communication.
This internship is ideal for a recent graduate seeking practical experience in communications, public relations, or media within a humanitarian or development-focused organization.
During the internship, the intern will have the opportunity to develop skills and gain experience in the following key areas:
Content Creation & Storytelling Social Media & Digital Communications Media & Public Relations Internal Communications & Engagement Visual Communications & Graphic Design Event & Campaign
Requirement:
- Recent graduate with a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media Studies, International Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- Prior experience through internships, volunteer work, or academic projects in communications, media, or digital marketing is an advantage.

External Engagement and Partnering Intern
Will learn on the work related to facilitating Partnering process (identification, assessment, contracting, collaboration and review) geared toward establishing and/or strengthening relationships with a wide range of partners that will contribute to the sustained well-being of children.
Working with and through partners.
During the internship, the intern will have the opportunity to develop skills and gain experience in the following key areas:
Professional Communication & Writing Skills External Engagement and Partnering Tools Internal & External Stakeholder Engagement Event Planning & Training Planning, organising of programmes, documentation, using tools, template, tracking, monitoring of partnering activities and Learning on External Engagements activities.
Requirements
- Recent graduate with a degree in Bachelor of Law, Social Sciences, Business Management, or Organizational Development or any other appropriate field.
- Prior experience through internships, volunteer work, or academic projects in community development, project management, or humanitarian work is an advantage.
- Ability to travel to the field office
- Duration: April 2025 to September 2025
Administration Services Intern (2)
The interns are part of the National Office Administration unit. During the internship, the intern will have the opportunity to develop skills and gain experience in the following key areas:
- Reception and visitor management
- Vendor engagement
- Housekeeping activities
- Documentation, filing, record keeping.and meeting minutes.
- Supply Chain coordination on services and payment
- Stock and supplies management and activities related to procurement.
- Facilitating business requests related to admin needs in the National Office
- Meeting and event Coordination
Requirement
- Graduate Intern, a recent graduate with a degree in business administration and other relevant field of study. Duration February 2025 to August 2025
People and Culture Interns ( HR- Human Resource )
The P&C intern will be part of the P&C team and will be based in the national office.

Child Protection and Safeguarding - Intern
Where the Intern Will Work: As an intern in this unit, he/she will work alongside child protection and safeguarding TPM, child protection and safeguarding Project Officers, ministries, and other experts in the field. He/she will be based in the National Office and may also engage with external partners such as schools, social services, and community centers, depending on ongoing projects.

Civil Engineer β Intern
The Civil Engineering Intern is an opportunity for relevant engineering graduate who will learn about work related infrastructure-related activities, while gaining practical experience in project management, construction oversight, and engineering processes.
