CRS/ Sierra Leone and Program Background
Catholic Relief Service (CRS) launched its work in Sierra Leone in 1963 supporting relief and development operations in the country. CRS Sierra Leone has proudly maintained a strong reputation and relationship with partners and the communities we serve in the country by implementing a multi-sector program portfolio. Today, the Country Program has a robust portfolio built around several major programs in Health, Agriculture, Nutrition, Education and Urban Resilience. CRS/Sierra Leone currently implements projects in Education, Emergencies, Health, and Urban Resilience sector area, including the USDA/McGovern Dole Food for Education funded All Pikin for Learn project, and is a co-principal recipient of the Global Fund malaria grant to the country. Other funding includes the Coca-Cola-funded RAIN project, and the UN-funded as UNPBF project. In addition, the country program is working on several high-profile opportunities including the ALL-Right Project Fund. CRS Urban malaria research project anticipates that by incorporating malaria activities in the Transform Freetown Project, a more holistic and sustainable approach to improving health and reducing malaria prevalence can be achieved.
Job Title: Internship Program- (Young Women Internship Program FY24)
Department: Operations and Program Units
Reports To: Direct Unit Heads
Country: CRS-Sierra Leone.
Duty Location: CRS Freetown with 25% travel to Field Sites when necessary
- Business Development (BD) Intern JD
The role will provide support to all business development processes. Under the supervision of the Business Development Specialist and supporting supervision of the Gender Focal Point (GFP), the BD intern will support the following.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing proposal production plan.
- Provide administrative support to the BDs. This includes organizing BD workshops and training for staff and partners.
- Assist in liaising with internal proposal development teams.
- Support the development of donor engagement documents.
- Attending meetings, taking notes, and producing reports as needed.
Preferred Experience / Qualification
The ideal Intern should have:
- Good English writing skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Creative and attention to detail for quality output
- Have a Degree in Communications, Business Administration, or any social sciences/Art degree
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and people’s skills.
- Discretionary Funded (DF) Projects Finance Intern
Under the supervision of the DF Grant Accountant and the supporting supervision of the GFP, the Intern will support the following:
- Assist the Grant Accountant to develop budget for all DF units and during proposal development.
- Support the DF Grant Accountant in liaising with all DF funded program team to ensure timely liquidation of finances and support payment in the field as needed.
- Support the Grant Accountant to liaise with procurement to ensure timely payment to vendors for DF funded activities.
- Work with DF program managers to develop monthly/quarterly budget forecast.
Preferred Experience / Qualification
The ideal Intern should be:
- Organize with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Have a Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or any related academic degree.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and people’s skills.
- Programming Intern JD
The role will provide administrative and programming support to Head of Programming. Under the supervision of the HOP and supporting supervision of the GFP, the Intern will support the following activities:
Responsibilities:
- Assist in providing administrative support to the HOP.
- Provide program quality support to all programs and agency core crosscuttings units such as partnership, MEAL, Business Development, Gender and Communications.
- Support the overall implementation of all programs by performing any other official duties as required by the HOP, which are in line with the experience of the Intern.
- Support with program workshops and arranging external engagements.
- Support with visits from WARO and other CPs.
- Support with project launches and close-outs.
Preferred Experience / Qualification
The ideal Intern should have:
- Good English writing skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Creative and attention to detail for quality output
- Have a degree in social work, Business Administration, Gender, community development, or any related academic degree.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and people skills.
- Operations Intern
Under the supervision of the Head of Operations and the supporting supervision of the GFP, the Intern will work with all operations units.
The Operations Intern will support the following activities:
- Assist the Finance department with filing and bookkeeping.
- Assist the HR department on recruitment.
- Provide support to the administrative, fleet, Procurement and ICT departments as needed.
- Provide direct assistant to the Head of Operations on his/her duties which are in line with the Intern’s experience.
Preferred Experience / Qualification
The ideal Intern should have:
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Have a Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, Procurement and Logistics or any related academic degree.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and people’s skills.
