Summary of the Position (DHSTO):

The District Health Systems Technical Officer (DHSTO) will be based within the District Health Management Team (DHMT) and work closely with the DHMT to provide training, supervision, and mentorship services to Community Health Workers (CHWs) Peer Supervisors (PSs) through the coordination of Peripheral Health Unit’s (PHU) staff.  The DHSTO will work under the direction of the District Health Systems Technical Coordinator (DHSTC)

Your Contribution:

  • Experienced in navigating the MoH DHIS2 and Community Health Information System (CHIS) platform.
  • Prepare and present CHW monthly data analysis to the DHMT and PSI Senior Management Team (SMT)
  • Support and facilitate, DHMT, M&E, Chiefdom Supervisors and PHU staff to input CHW reports into the CHIS platform monthly
  • Work in collaboration with the DHSTC to coordinate and align all program activities with the DHMT activities and provide prompt feedback to the PSI SMT.
  • Regular field visits to provide supportive supervision and mentor the CHWs and PSs on integrated Community Case Management (iCCM) conditions.
  • Develop, share, and execute training and mentorship calendar in consultation with PHU in- charges and DHMT leadership.
  • Thoroughly record and analyze supportive supervision results with focus on PS performance.
  • Meet weekly with the DMHT to discuss supportive supervision data and use data based on need.
  • Support and conduct cross exchange learning visits between high- and low performing CHWs/PS to promote best practices in iCCM interventions.
  • Provide timely data and analysis of project activities.
  • Provide timely and accurate weekly activity and quarterly reports to your supervisor.
  • Attend training as determined by the project activity plan.
  • Other tasks assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications

Minimum requirement

  • SRN, Midwife, CHO, degree in Public Health

Added Advantage

  • Experienced working with the USG Department of State funds
  • At least 2 years’ clinical experience, including malaria interventions
  • Experienced in clinical teaching and/or mentorship.
  • Exemplary interpersonal communication skills required to interact effectively with senior leadership, partners, CHWs and other community members, on sensitive and confidential issues.
  • Understanding the context of Sierra Leone health system
  • Demonstrating commitment to the health of their community.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written)
  • Computer literacy with demonstration using word processing and database management.; Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Willing to live and relocate in other districts and hard to reach communities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail and deadlines
