1.) Technical Officer
Job Description
- Technical Officer (Coastal Mangrove Conservation and Community Engagement)

The Technical Officer, Coastal Mangrove Conservation and Community Engagement will be responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, and monitoring of coastal and mangrove conservation activities. The officer works closely with local communities, partners, and stakeholders to promote sustainable resource management, ecosystem restoration, and livelihood improvement initiatives.
The role also involves data collection, capacity building, community mobilization, and ensuring that conservation interventions align with project objectives and national environmental policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of mangrove restoration, protection, and monitoring activities.
- Conduct field assessments, biodiversity surveys, and ecological monitoring.
- Assist in mapping mangrove ecosystems and identifying degraded sites for restoration.
- Promote sustainable management practices and nature-based solutions for coastal resilience.
- Mobilize and engage community groups, local leaders, and resource user associations.
- Facilitate community sensitization meetings, training sessions, and awareness campaigns.
- Support the development of community-based management plans and local by-laws.
Strengthen community participation in conservation decision-making and livelihood initiatives.
Objective 2: Reporting and archiving
- Support day-to-day project activity planning and tracking.
- Collect, analyse, and document field data for reporting and knowledge management.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and activity reports for project management and partners.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and project implementation standards.
Objective 3: Participate in the evaluation and reorientation of the project
- Participate in all project activities including meetings
- Analyze and build on experiences in order to share the lessons learned
- Propose new directions for the project to the Project Manager
Qualifications and ExperienceĀ
- Bachelorās degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Ecology, Marine Biology, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
- MinimumĀ 3ā5 yearsā experience working in environmental conservation, coastal ecosystem management, or community development.
- Experience working with rural communities on conservation or livelihood projects.
- Experience in field data collection, ecological surveys, or restoration activities.
- Prior experience with NGO or donor-funded projects is an added advantage.
- Fluency in English with knowledge of local languages in the targeted area is an advantage.
Required SkillsĀ
- Strong knowledge of mangrove ecology, coastal ecosystems, and conservation practices.
- Ability to mobilize and engage communities effectively.
- Proficiency in data collection tools (GPS, Kobo Collect, ODK, GIS is an advantage).
- Strong report writing, documentation, and communication skills.
- Good facilitation, training, and interpersonal skills.
Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

2.) Finance Officer
Job Description
- Finance Officer
Job Summary
The Finance Officer is responsible for supporting the financial management functions of the project, ensuring accurate record-keeping, compliance with financial policies, timely reporting, and effective budget monitoring.Ā Ā The role involves managing financial transactions, preparing financial statements, supporting audits, and ensuring the efficient use of Project resources Ā Ā Ā Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and ledgers
- Process payments, invoices, advances, and retirements in line with financial procedures.
- Support budget development, monitoring, and variance analysis.
- Manage cash flow and ensure timely reconciliation of bank statements.;
- Ensure compliance with donor regulations and CSSL financial policies.
- Assist in procurement processes and ensure supporting documents are properly filed.
- Support both internal and external audit processes and implement audit recommendations.
- Follow up to ensure all payments for project activities are processed in a timely manner in accordance with CSSL policies & procedures and in compliance with Donor rules and regulations
- Prepare quarterly financial reports as per CSSL donor requirements, ensuring they are complete, accurate and produced on a timely manner to ensure adequate review, approval, and submission.
- Prepare and maintain project fixed assets register and inventory records.
- Assist the Head of Finance and Admin in external and internal audits.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelorās degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Training in financial management, donor compliance, or project finance is desirable.
- Minimum 3-5 yearsā experience inĀ finance or accounting roles.
- Experience working with NGOs, donor-funded projects, or corporate finance environments is an added advantage.
- Experience in preparing financial reports, budgets, and reconciliations.

3.) Field Officer

Job Summary
The Field Officer will support the implementation and coordination of project activities at the community and field levels.Ā The role involves community mobilization, data collection, monitoring, facilitation of trainings and ensuring activities are aligned with project goals. The Field Officer will serve as the main liaison between CSSL, beneficiaries, and community stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement field level project activities in line with work plans against intended objectives, targets, and timelines
- Collect and report field data accurately and on time.
- represent CSSL in meetings taking place at the project sites
- Contribute to the carrying out of formative research, baseline assessments, and community mapping, including development of evaluation protocols, tools, training, data collection.
- Facilitate community meetings, sensitization, and training sessions.
Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and partners
- Coordinate field logistics and activity preparation.
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance with procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelorās degree in Community Development, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or related field.

4.) Project Manager
Job Description
- Project Manager
Job Summary
The Project Manager will be responsible for strategically and adaptively leading project management, including planning, implementation, monitoring, generating expected outputs and outcomes in line with the approved donor requirements of the project. He/she will be responsible for successful management of the project by coordinating closely with implementing partners and ensuring effective oversight and compliance with CSSLās rules, regulations and policies.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate overall implementation of the project in the Yawri Bay Marine Protected Area.
- Establish and make strong working relationships with the project partner, Welthungerhilfe (WHH)
- Put in place the right structure and procedure to keep the project on track and ensure adherence to the projectās scope and achieving its objectives
- Manage project staff and supervise all activities to ensure project delivery
- Develop annual and quarterly plans from the overall project work plan
- Monitor all operational expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budget and donor requirements
- Prepare high-quality and timely technical reports
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including other projects and the Government to deliver activities that have clear and measurable linkages to the project objectives
- Prepare and showcase results to key audiences nationally, regionally and internationally.
- Take responsibility for the overall progress and use of resources and initiate corrective action where required to keep the project on track.
- Participate in meetings of the overall project implementation team.
Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelorās degree in Project Management, Development Studies, Environmental Science, Management, or a related field.
- A Masterās degree in a relevant discipline is an added advantage.
- Experience in monitoring & evaluation, budgeting, procurement, or donor project management is an asset.
- Minimum of 5ā7 years experience in project management or programme coordination, preferably within NGOs, development organisations, or conservation/environmental projects.
- Proven experience in planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on donor-funded projects.
- Experience managing project budgets and financial resources.
- Experience supervising teams, consultants, or field staff.
- Experience working with stakeholders such as communities, government institutions, partners, and donors.
- Demonstrated success delivering projects within scope, timeline, and budget.
