WHAT IS GERES?
Founded in 1976, Geres is a French development NGO working to improve living conditions and fight against climate change and its impacts. As a grassroots actor, Geres sees the energy transition as a key driver of its work. To foster ambitious societal change, the organization promotes the development and dissemination of innovative local solutions, supports local climate and energy policies, and mobilizes all stakeholders around the concept of climate solidarity—encouraging them to take action and support the most vulnerable.

CONTEXT AND PROJECTS OF GERES IN SIERRA LEONE
Sierra Leone is a new country of intervention for Geres, with activities started in April 2025. The initial project, funded by the French Development Agency (AFD), will run for four years and aims to provide clean energy through solar mini-grids to productive users in rural areas. The goal is to boost productivity and ultimately increase incomes, while reducing environmental and climate impacts through solar energy.

MISSION AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of the Geres Sierra Leone Freetown office and guest areas. The position also includes preparation of meals, refreshments, and support for office hospitality needs. The role ensures a clean, comfortable, and welcoming working environment for all staff and visitors.
The Housekeeper plays a key role in creating a pleasant and welcoming workplace for the Geres Sierra Leone team.
Beyond ensuring cleanliness, hygiene, good organization, and well-maintained offices rooms and areas, this position helps make the office a comfortable place where staff and visitors feel at ease. The role also supports daily hospitality by preparing meals, refreshments, and assisting with basic office arrangements. Through care, attention, and a sense of service, the Housekeeper contributes directly to a friendly, safe, and enjoyable working environment.

   

HIERARCHICAL AND FUNCTIONAL LINKS
Direct supervisor: Deputy Logistics Manager
Functional link: Operations Support Manager, Country Representative, Finance, Admin & HR Officer, Deputy Thematic Managers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
A. Cleaning and Maintenance

Ensure daily cleaning of all office spaces, including offices, meeting rooms, kitchen, washrooms, and corridors.

Maintain cleanliness of furniture, fixtures, windows, and office equipment.

Ensure proper waste disposal and segregation.

Refill and monitor cleaning and hygiene supplies (soap, tissue, sanitizer, etc.).

Report any maintenance issues (plumbing, electricity, broken items, etc.) to the Deputy Logistics Manager.
B. Kitchen and Cooking Duties

Prepare and serve tea, coffee, and refreshments for staff and visitors as required.

Prepare and cook meals for staff or official guests when instructed.

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas at all times.

Manage kitchen stock, utensils, and groceries, reporting low supplies to the Deputy Logistics Manager.

Follow proper food hygiene and safety standards during meal preparation.
C. Hospitality and Support

Assist with setting up meeting rooms and refreshments for internal and external meetings.

Support during office events and workshops (serving food, arranging tables, cleaning after events).

Ensure a pleasant and professional environment for all guests and staff.
D. Other Duties

Support in other office-related tasks as assigned by the Deputy Logistics Manager.

Adhere to Geres’ code of conduct, safety, and environmental policies at all times.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
A.
Education/ Experience

Minimum of Diploma Qualification.

At least 2 years of proven experience in a similar position.

Prior experience working with an international NGO in a similar role is desirable.
B.

Good understanding of hygiene and cleanliness standards.

CONDITIONS AND APPLICATION
Status: Sierra Leonese fixed-term contract;
Remuneration: Category A1 or A2 on internal Geres Sierra Leone salary grid, depending on profile;
Contract duration: 12 months (renewable subject to satisfactory results).
