  • Protecting the safety of passengers throughout each journey.
  • Using radio communication equipment when required.
  • Reporting your location and any security concerns according to organisational communication procedures.

This position requires someone who can remain calm, alert and responsible, particularly when travelling on different types of roads or working under changing field conditions.

How to Increase Your Chances

For this iDT LABS recruitment, do not submit a generic CV that simply says you are an experienced driver.

Make your experience clear.

Your CV should mention:

  • The number of years you have worked as a professional driver.
  • Types of vehicles you have driven.
  • Previous organisations or employers.
  • Experience driving within and outside Freetown.
  • Knowledge of major Sierra Leone roads and routes.
  • Experience with vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks.
  • Accident-free or safety-related achievements, where applicable.
  • Experience transporting staff, visitors, equipment or goods.

Your application letter should also briefly explain why you are a reliable and safety-conscious driver.

If you have experience using communication equipment, maintaining vehicle logbooks or working under organisational security procedures, make sure this is visible in your application.

What iDT LABS May Look for in Successful Drivers

The job requirements suggest that technical driving ability is only one part of the role.

A successful applicant should also demonstrate:

  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Good judgement on the road.
  • Attention to vehicle safety.
  • Knowledge of traffic rules.
  • Professional communication.
  • Respect for confidentiality and organisational procedures.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to incidents.
  • Willingness to follow security instructions.

A driver who regularly checks the condition of the vehicle and reports problems early may be more valuable than someone who simply has many years of driving experience.
