Recruitment for Various Positions for the Livestock and Livelihood Development Programme (LLDP)
Project Background
The Government of Sierra Leone has secured funding from IFAD, IsDB and OFID for the implementation of the LLDP project in 11 Districts in the country. Eight will be covered by IFAD funding while additional 3 including the 8 IFAD districts will be covered by IsDB Funding. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is the Executing Agency for the implementation of the LLDP.
The principal objective of this project is to improve the livelihoods of rural households in the intervention Districts by contributing to poverty reduction, food security and nutrition of rural households and creating employment opportunities for rural women and youth in Sierra Leone. The Livestock and Livelihood Development Programme aims to enhance rural livelihoods through improved livestock management practices, capacity building, and market access initiatives. The programme focuses on increasing productivity, improving animal health, promoting sustainable practices, and ensuring that beneficiaries can generate stable income from their livestock-based activities. The Programme will cover eleven (11) districts: Pujehun, Kenema, Kailahun, Kono, Port Loko, Bombali, Koinadugu, and Bo, Moyamba, Tonkolili and Falaba. The project is aligned with key elements of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Mid-Term National Development Plan for Sierra Leone and the FEED SALONE flagship programme.
For the implementation of this project MAFS is recruiting core staff of the Project Management unit who under the technical supervision of the Chief Agriculture Officer and the administrative supervision of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), will be responsible for the day-to-day administrative, technical and financial management of the Livestock and Livelihood Development Programme.
