1.) Mining Superintendent
JOB VACANCY:
MINING SUPERINTENDENT
ABOUT US
FG Gold Limited was recently awarded the Baomahun Gold Concession located in Valunia in Bo District and is currently in the development stage. To support the project development, FG Gold Limited is recruiting a qualified Sierra Leonean to fill in the vacant position of Mining Superintendent.
Role Purpose
The Mining Superintendent is responsible for managing the daily shift operations and ensuring compliance with safety standards, and production KPIs, and coordinating all activities occurring in the open pit area and around. Set a high standard of organization and housekeeping in the mine and all equipment used.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in training team members and the nationals under his/her responsibility to assure competence in operating procedures, safety system & environmental requirements, and developing the nationals.
- Ensure that the training courses carried out are evaluated in accordance with the evaluation system in place.
- Participate in the drafting of periodic reports on training for management and shop stewards.
- Participate in the definition of performance indicators with department heads, insert them in job descriptions, and monitor their implementation.
- Train and raise awareness among heads of department on performance management and the implementation of performance indicators.
- Responsible for managing the mining and the pit dewatering operations with the aim to support the mining contractor in achieving site production excellence.
- Proactively take the necessary steps towards achieving the safety targets set in the company policy.
- Maximize equipment availability/utilization by ensuring full respect for operational procedures to meet production targets.
- Participate in setting the strategic direction of achieving corporate production guidance.
- Lead, organize, and provide direction for Production employees to ensure outstanding performance is achieved in people performance, HSE&Q outcomes, and business results.
- Maintain an efficient relationship with the mining contractors.
- Motivate employees to be top achievers.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- [Mandatory] Mining engineering degree.
- First Aid Competency Certificate.
- Management Skill Training Program.
- [Mandatory] Multi-skilled operator (Excavators, graders, dump trucks, bulldozers, payloader, etc.).
- [Mandatory] At least 10 years’ experience in open pit mining operations.
- [Mandatory] Greenfield project experience.
- [Mandatory] Mining operations set up in a construction environment.
- Perfect command of English.
- Knowledge of local languages preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- High availability.
- Excellent integrity/ethics.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Analytical spirit oriented towards problem-solving.
- Meaning of customer service

To support the project development, FG Gold Limited is recruiting a qualified Sierra Leonean to fill in the vacant position of Short-Term Mine Planning Engineer.
Role Purpose:
The Short-term Mine Planning Engineer (STMPE) is responsible for providing quality, timely and accurate reports as well as technical, budgetary, and support services to the Mine Engineering Department adhering to all statutory requirements and Company Safety, Health, and Environmental standards and procedures at the Baomahun Gold Project (BGP). The STMPE will be expected to act in the role of Senior Mining Engineer as per business requirements, such as in the absence of the Senior Mining Engineer.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in training team members and the nationals under his/her responsibility to assure competence in operating procedures, safety system & environmental requirements, and developing the nationals.
- Participate in the drafting of periodic reports on training for management and shop stewards.
- Train and raise awareness among heads of department on performance management and the implementation of performance indicators.
- Break down the Operating Budget into Short-Term Mining Plans.
- Oversee Pit and Dump locations to ensure the plan meets all technical, legal, and safety measures.
- Examine mining methods and equipment to improve performance.
- Prepare drilling and blasting strategies and activities to achieve targets.
- Develop 3 – 6 Months rolling production strategies to achieve monthly and quarterly targets.
- Generate Monthly Production reports.
- Generate Weekly and Monthly stakeholder engagement.
- Liaise with the Mineral Resource department and all Mining Sub-Contractors.
- Understand measures and key issues/drivers of processes that you are accountable for.
- Effective planning & prioritization of tasks.
- Work in accordance with Site HSE policies, systems & procedures.
- Ability to manage and minimize rework and waste generation.
- Communicate effectively with own team members as well as members of other teams and other departments.
- Develop individual KPI targets and team KPI goals to ensure the accurate delivery sitewide of the mining systems.
- Coach and mentor, the junior mining engineers as part of succession planning.
- Well-developed presentation skills.
- Co-ordinate and produce weekly, monthly, and quarterly validation reports on time.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- [Mandatory] Mining engineering degree.
- [Mandatory] A strong knowledge of Surpac and Minesched.
- Management Skill Training Program.
- [Mandatory] 5 to 10 years of post-graduate experience gained within open pit mining operations.
- [Mandatory Experience in mine planning and scheduling for multiple open pits operations.
- [Mandatory] Demonstrated ability to coach and develop.
- [Mandatory] Strong skills and proven experience in drill and blast.
- [Mandatory] Excellent planning and organizational skills and assertiveness with the ability to implement change.

GRADE CONTROL SUPERINTENDENT

Role Purpose
The Grade Control (GC) Superintendent is responsible for managing the grade control operations and ensuring compliance with safety standards, and production KPIs, and coordinating all activities occurring in the open pit area and around. Set a high standard of organization and housekeeping in the mine and all equipment used. The GC Superintendent will be required to assist in designing, setting up, and implementing the mining geology database structure. She/he will write and review all Grade Control protocols and procedures and engage in the early GC drilling requirements and activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in training team members and the nationals under his/her responsibility to assure competence in operating procedures, safety system & environmental requirements, and developing the nationals.
- Ensure that the training courses carried out are evaluated in accordance with the evaluation system in place.
- Participate in the drafting of periodic reports on training for management and shop stewards.
- Participate in the definition of performance indicators with department heads, insert them in job descriptions, and monitor their implementation.
- Train and raise awareness among heads of department on performance management and the implementation of performance indicators.
- Implement and manage geology processes to a very high quality.
- Design the mining geology database structure for grade control.
- Set up and implement the mining geology database to support the LOM grade control activities.
- Write and review all Grade Control protocols and procedures to achieve excellent quality grade control sampling, selective mining practices and minimize ore loss and dilution during excavation.
- Manage the Grade Control team to achieve the planned targets within the deadlines.
- Provide training and skills development of the geology personnel in the mining team.
- Ensure compliance with all Grade Control protocols and procedures.
- Coordinate all Grade Control activities in and around the pits. Including mapping, geotechnical mapping/observations, housekeeping, and other technical works as required.
- Coordinate all Grade Control protocols and procedures to achieve the objectives in a timely manner.
- Manage the geology production crew in tracking ore mining and feeding.
- Ensure the crusher feed blending is aligned with the production daily, weekly, and monthly targets.
- Responsible for future ore and reconciliation improvement programs.
- Drive improvement projects in geology to ensure efficient and optimal orebody extraction.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- [Mandatory] Degree qualification in Geology sciences/Engineering.
- [Mandatory] Demonstrated experience in a challenging and variable low-grade orebody.
- [Mandatory] Proven experience and understanding of Data Shed, Leapfrog, Log Chief, Surpac.
- [Mandatory] At least 10 years’ experience in open pit mining operations.
- [Mandatory] Strong skills in grade control modeling and geology processes coupled with excellent analytical and interpretation skills.
- [Mandatory] Demonstrated capability in delivering improvements at a Senior level.
- [Mandatory] Mine geology operations setup in a construction environment.
- Perfect command of English.
- Knowledge of local languages preferred.
