With regards to the above and in the framework of the project “HOME phase 2 – Ensuring Protection for vulnerable minors in Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast” approved with resolution no. 37 of the 27th February 2023 by Italian Commission for International Adoption (CAI), AVSI is currently seeking to recruit a:
Position: Early Childhood Development Expert
Type of employment: Part time – National contract
Duty Station: Western Area District – Country Office
Department: Project
Report to: Program Coordinator
Summary of the key responsibilities:
- Develop training programs on ECD and Child Protection;
- Organize and facilitate sessions for Mothers to Mothers’ groups, ensuring timely and effective delivery for the achievement of expected outputs and outcomes;
- Organize and manages any other activities aimed at strengthening the capacities of caregivers to ensure wellbeing of children during early childhood;
- Coordinate and oversee staff and contractors involved in the implementation of trainings;
- Facilitate context analysis, baseline studies, monitoring and evaluation of activities to identify current situations, future impacts, and guide implementation.
- Participate in regular project meetings to discuss work progress and develops appropriate strategies to ensure the attainment of program objectives;
- Fulfills AVSI Child Safeguarding Policy at all times to protect children from all forms of abuse;
- Performs any other duties that may be assigned to support the achievement of organizational goals.
Required qualifications:
- Advanced Degree from a recognized university OR its equivalent, in field of Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or other related fields.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in management, coordination of development projects, social development, planning and management in ECD and/other related areas in a reputable and well-established institution or organization, preferably in NGO;
- Sound experience in organizing training activities, workshops.
- Knowledgeable in UNCRC, Nurturing Care Framework, Child Protection Policy and Practices in Sierra Leone;
- Previous and relevant experience in dealing managing project on ECD is an asset.
- Knowledgeable of European Union or other international donors grant management principles and procedures is an asset
- Preference will be given to female candidates
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written);
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Detail-oriented and working with a high degree of accuracy.
- Highly organized and flexible.
- Strong team-building.
- Strong logical reasoning, critical thinking and problem solving;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and use of relevant software and other applications, e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet;
