Job Vacancy: Community Development Officer
BACKGROUND:
The Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation (JNJF) is a Sierra Leonean charity organisation dedicated to improving the lives of impoverished women and children, helping them rise above the challenges of poverty and rejection through education and economic development. At JNJF, we are passionate about helping widows and children overcome the challenges that have impoverished them, which includes providing economic empowerment, training, and education.
POSITION SUMMARY:
We seek enthusiastic and compassionate Volunteer Field Staff members to join our team. The Volunteer Field Staff will play a pivotal role in our mission to uplift impoverished children and widows in Sierra Leone by actively engaging with communities and facilitating the implementation of our programs. If you are passionate about contributing to positive change and making a lasting impact, this role provides a unique opportunity to support a meaningful cause.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Community Engagement: Establish and nurture strong relationships with local
communities, focusing on widows and children, to build trust and facilitate the program
implementation.
Program Support: Assist in the planning, coordinating, and executing various programs, including educational initiatives, economic empowerment projects, and training sessions.
Beneficiary Assistance: Provide guidance and support to program beneficiaries, assess their needs, and ensure they benefit fully from the programs offered.
Data Collection: Collect and maintain accurate records of program activities, beneficiaries, and outcomes.
Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and needs of impoverished children and widows, helping to raise awareness and garner support for our cause.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with fellow team members, volunteers, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of our programs and services.
Reporting: Prepare regular reports on program progress and impact on the organisation
and donors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be an experienced motorcycle rider with a valid Driver's License.
• Compassion and dedication to the cause of empowering impoverished women.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Previous experience in community outreach, fieldwork, or related roles is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Skilled with MS Office and smart devices is an advantage
• Proficiency in English and Krio is essential
• A strong social media presence is an advantage
• Must be legally eligible to work in Sierra Leone.
• Experience in managing Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) groups is
highly desirable.

Duration:
- The Community Development Officer will serve for an initial 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance. Performance appraisal will be done quarterly.
Benefits:
• Gross Salary starts at NLE2,500 per month, depending on education and level of experience, plus other benefits.
