| PROGRAMME OVERVIEW |
| The Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) site aims to determine and track the causes of under-five mortality and stillbirths through epidemiologic surveillance, including reporting within 24 hours, clinical sampling, and use of advanced laboratory testing and diagnostics across a network of international sites. The area selected for CHAMPS in Sierra Leone is Bombali Sebora chiefdom in Bombali district. The Minimal Invasive Tissue Sampling (MITS) procedure used by CHAMPS was developed to reduce the uncertainty regarding causes of death. The data collected from the CHAMPS Sierra Leone site will be added to those from the other eight (8) sites and will help reduce child deaths in LMICs by providing detailed evidence on the cause of death to influence policy of donors and stakeholders. Beginning from the 2025/26 financial year, The Africa Research Collaborative (The ARC), a local NGO in Sierra Leone, has been tasked to support the direct implementation of the CHAMPS programme in Sierra Leone, with initial support from Deloitte, Ghana. As a dedicated group of African researchers, the ARC aims to generate robust local evidence that informs national policies, health guidelines, and service delivery practices. We work collaboratively with governments and health partners to ensure that our research findings lead to culturally appropriate and sustainable solutions. | FUNCTION OF  DEPARTMENT | The Data and Informatics Department plays a vital role in supporting the research activities. The dapartment manage and maintain all data systems, ensuring secure storage, regular backups, and smooth system performance. It also develop and customize software tools and platforms that meet the specific needs of the research teams, from data  collection to analysis. In addition, the department provide IT support across the organizationâresolving technical issues, maintaining network and hardware functionality, and helping staff use digital tools effectively. Through strong systems management, development, and support, the department enable reliable, efficient, and high-quality  research processes. |
| MAIN JOB  RESPONSIBILITIES | â˘Â In this role, the incumbent will support in the overall data  management activities relating to implementation, management and oversight for the program. â˘Â Provide data management support to research studies including  data analysis, designing of study instruments, setting up databases, data entry, data cleaning and editing, and backing up  and archiving of data. |
| TECHNICAL DELIVERY | â˘Â Monitor data quality for adherence to protocol and defined quality standards by carrying out data review, validation including discrepancy checking, data cleaning and report generation. â˘Â Extract data from REDCap and SurveyCTO systems and check  the data for completeness and data quality issues. â˘Â Generate data queries based on validation checks or errors and omissions identified during data capture and data collection. â˘Â Ensure data queries are raised, tracked and resolved in a timely  and accurate manner. â˘Â Regularly execute STATA do-files to generate data quality issues,  share and follow up these issues raised to resolution. â˘Â Inputs information from a variety of sources into projectâs data capture systems including but not limited to REDCap and SurveyCTO. |
