JOB TITLE: WASSCE Preparation Teacher

CONTRACT DURATION: One year with possible extension
WEEKLY WORKING TIME: 4 to 6 Hours per month on min. two Saturdays a month.
STARTING DATE: The candidate is expected to start immediately after a successful interview.
Brief Description: The association Für Sierra Leone e.V. (FSL), founded in 2013 by dedicated citizens from Bavaria (Germany) and Sierra Leone, provides financial and material assistance for educational, health, and infrastructure projects aimed at sustainable improvement of living conditions for citizens in Sierra Leone. FSL's projects range from education to water/hygiene and youth entrepreneurship.
The FSL Girls Empowerment Program (FSLGEP) supports socially disadvantaged, motivated girls (14+) in Freetown. A key activity is the Saturday Classes, held three times per month, which focus on core subjects and intensive WASSCE preparation. The program equips the girls with the skills and confidence needed to pass their final exams and access higher education, including university scholarships for outstanding graduates.
Job Purpose: As a Saturday Class WASSCE Preparation Teacher, you will plan and deliver lessons in strict alignment with the WASSCE syllabus. Detailed lesson plans must be submitted to the GEP Social Worker before each class. You are responsible for ensuring that all participating girls are academically and psychologically well prepared for their examinations. Lessons should encourage active participation, supported by homework assignments. Student progress must be assessed through regular tests, practicals, and mock exams using WASSCE past questions, with learning gaps documented and addressed through individual support strategies developed with the GEP team.

You are expected to use modern, learner-centered teaching methods at all times. Punitive or violent disciplinary practices are strictly prohibited. Close collaboration with the GEP team, partner schools, and parents is essential to support the girls' holistic academic success.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate teacher(s) to join our team. The successful candidate will work during the Saturday Classes closely with the Girls Empowerment Team to support the girls in our program and prepare them for their WASSCE examination.
Description of Tasks
Responsibilities in Detail:
- Conduct WASSCE preparation classes on at least two Saturday Classes in a month to the beneficiaries of the FSL Girls Empowerment Program (High School Level).
- Conduct intense one day study sessions (at least on two weekends) before WASSCE Examination for the beneficiaries of the GEP.
- Align all teaching activities strictly with the current WASSCE syllabus.
- Prepare lesson plans, revision materials, and practice/mock exams.
- Monitor student progress and support and guide them individually (e.g. through extra work, study plans etc.).
- Provide regular feedback to the FSL GEP staff.
- Submit teaching plans 2 days for review by FSL GEP before teaching.
- Be sure to be punctual and deliver lessons within the ambit of the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
· Qualified Teacher (minimum of HTC and a degree in Education) Specific additional required qualification is an added advantage. · 3-5 years teaching experiences at Senior Secondary School (SSS) level. · At least 2 years WASSCE preparation experience. · Strong knowledge of the WASSCE curriculum. · WAEC-related experience is an added advantage. · Teaching experience outside the Sierra Leonean school system (e.g. British Council) is an added advantage.
