Driver – Mechanic*
in Freetown
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Freetown, Country Office. The position is paid according to WHH Salary Grid
The objective of this position is to transport Welthungerhilfe staff, goods/materials and authorised passenger(s) under safety conditions, and responsible for the fleet maintenance/ service and the appropriate use and maintenance of Welthungerhilfe vehicles in accordance with Welthungerhilfe rules, standards and protocols in order to have the vehicles in optimal running conditions
Your responsibilities
- As driver, you are performing the tasks of transporting authorized goods and passengers in Welthungerhilfe vehicle, ensuring technical and safety conditions and respecting the country’s traffic rules, Welthungerhilfe fleet policy and security rules in order to provide a safe, smooth and efficient service.
- As mechanic, in charge of maintainancing all Welthungerhilfe vehicles and ensuring that they are in good working condition.
Ensure all vehicle have the necessary equipment, such as basic tools, first aid kit, spare tyre, jack & wheel puller, triangle smartphone, tow rope etc.
Maintaining up to date and accurate stock cards & job card for each vehicle and tracking the condition and consumption of products dedicated to vehicles.
- Clean vehicles (inside & outside) on a regular basis.
Timely report of neccessary repairs or other need for maintenace.
Keep the vehicle’s trips login system (smartphone) updated
Ensuring that the license and insurance of all Welthungerhilfe vehicles are updated
With the Logistics coordinator, identifying training needed by the drivers and making appropriate recommendations.
Your profile
- Professional/ formal qualification: Vocational training, vocational school, on-the job training or other relevant professional training.
- Job-related professional experience: 3 to 5 years professinal experience
Must be able to communicate in English.
